Thought for today – God works miracles by His Spirit not because our merit.
The focus
of this verse is contained in the word translated “suffer.” In the Greek, the word speaks of a passionate
experience either good or bad. In that
sense, it could be translated as “have you experienced the new life in Christ
with all its glories, miracles, and persecutions in vain?” The answer to that question lies in the
ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Is the gospel at work with miracles in the Spirit by faith or by your
obligation to the Law? Obviously, the Spirit
works only by faith, and one’s supposed “merit” by works of the Law has no influence
on the Spirit.
That’s
what the Book says!
